QUP Karaoke Engine v2.14.0

Post by toqer »

QUP Karaoke Engine v2.14.0 is out.

QUP now runs properly on tiling Linux desktops -- Hyprland, Omarchy, Archcraft, sway -- plus two fixes everyone gets.

Preferences works on a tiling desktop. Those compositors never draw a title bar for any application, so Preferences opened with no way to move or close it, and on some machines appeared to not open at all. QUP now draws its own title bar there, and message boxes and file pickers open beside the main window instead of in a corner of the screen. Windows, macOS, GNOME and KDE are unchanged.

The first run on a tiling desktop starts undocked, so the compositor gets separate Player, Media Library and Playlist windows it can place, instead of one window squeezed into a single tile. Dock it once and it stays docked -- QUP remembers what you chose.

Fixed: dividers that fought you on a narrow window. Dragging the divider in the Media Library, Preferences or Singer Management could bounce back instead of moving, and the narrower the window the worse it got. Most obvious on a tiling desktop, but the same bounce was reachable on Windows. It now goes where you drag it.

YouTube downloads can sign in now. Config > Plugins > YouTube has cookie settings -- take them from a browser, or point at a cookies.txt file -- the same two settings Music Video Backgrounds and Karaoke Maker already had. That is what age-restricted and members-only videos need, and what clears the "confirm you are not a bot" check. Downloads that fail for those reasons now say so and tell you where to fix it.
