QUP Karaoke Engine v2.12.2 is out.
Mac owners who use Karaoke Maker: its one-click Setup Tools button has never worked, on any version. It does now. If you tried it once and gave up, this is the release to try again. Setup Tools brings its own copy of everything it needs instead of borrowing what your Mac happens to have -- about 850 MB in QUP's own folder, plus around 1.5 GB of listening models the first time you build a song.
Also on a Mac: the finished video had no words on the picture. The lyrics were attached as a subtitle track most players leave switched off -- so on a projector, the screen showed a song with nothing to sing from. Lyrics are burned into the video again, in colour, sweeping word by word.
Macs now use their own video hardware. Songs finish quicker and the files come out about 30% smaller. The first song no longer stops with a graphics-card error asking you to turn something on -- that setting was never a real question on a Mac.
Songs occasionally came out named after a YouTube error message. The song itself was always fine; only the name was wrong. QUP now tells the difference.
Apple Silicon (M1 and later). On Intel Macs setup gets further than before but still cannot finish -- two of the audio components no longer ship a ready-made Intel version. We would rather say so than have you sit through a long download to find out.
Windows is unchanged apart from a clearer error message. Linux gets the same self-contained setup.
